So that means we're reviewing Amazing Spider-Man #50!
Be here! Be square! Don't despair! Get Nair!
------------------
So, last ish, Peter and MJ went looking for each other, to see the other, but, lo and behold, it was only when they stopped to take a breath that they actually found each other!
Here, they try to figure out what's going on with their relationship, because they love each other. Boy, do they love each other, but things keep interfering. Things involving spiders and crime-fighting.
Appropriately enough, their talk gets interrupted, by none other than --
And when you bring DOOM to an airport, what happens?
PSYCHO-LATVERIAN EXTREMISTS BLOW HIM UP, is what! A bunch of robots attack DOOM and blow up the place! True to form, Peter suits up and tries to save DOOM, because, however bad he may be, it's wrong for these Psycho-Latverian extremists to try to blow DOOM up.
I'm very tired from last posts, please forgive me.
So then the number of robots gets overwhelming, and Peter gets overwhelmed. Case in point:
It's the Sentinel of Liberty himself, Captain America! Can this arc get any better???
So they team up and do crazy robot fighting and DOOM-saving. There are some great (and funny) action sequences, but this post should only be so long.
In between the fighting and saving, Peter goes to talk to MJ. It's really cute how, since he's in costume, he has to call MJ "lady."
That's kind of a little dense for Peter to say, but I guess I'm nitpicking right now. The whole of the issue is definitely greater than its parts, as we'll soon see.
Action sequence!Teamwork, guys. Teamwork.
Mind you, this is the pre-Bendis Captain America. This guy's all about heroics, about nobility, about the ideal superhero. If Spider-Man is a role model for his readers, than Cap is a role model for Spidey.
So eventually the robots get defeated, DOOM is saved, but not before Spidey telling DOOM that he is a tyrant, and that part of Spidey feels sorry about saving him.
But more importantly, he talks to MJ, as the panel on the left will show you.
And Peter tells MJ that she's his rock. He can be a hero, because she believes in him. Against all odds, even when he doesn't have faith in himself, MJ will be there, and he'll feel a thousand times stronger. Because there is no muscle stronger than the heart.
The world would be so much better if everyone had someone to believe in them.
Is it a bit trite? Yes.
A tad cliche? Maybe.
So then a rescue team gets in to the destroyed airport, and Peter's about to leave. But more importantly, he talks to MJ, as the panel on the left will show you.

But you can't say it's not true.
But not before Cap says something wise!Do I really need to say anything else?
These past two issues were fun; they were touching; they were exciting. The characters come through shining. The art is beautiful, down-to-earth and expressive.
They are what I think comics should be. This is the Amazing that I wanna read.
Now, I gotta leave right now. I just, there's just something caught in my eye. . .
